A Trip Outside of Philly: Jim Thorpe, PA

We visit this Victorian gem nestled in the Pocono Mountains
2

We get out of the city to touch some grass in the little urbanist slice that is Jim Thorpe, PA. Previously known as Mauch Chunk until changing its name to honor the famous Olympian in 1954 (under very odd circumstances), this small town on the Lehigh River in the Poconos is a gem you have got to visit, sitting only 1.5 hours away from Philly. Be sure to take the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway while you’re in town.
